It's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 45-6, which was the final score in Vancleave's tilt against Laurel on Friday. While losing is never fun, Vancleave can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi football rankings (they are ranked 103rd, while Laurel is ranked 34th).
Derik Forehand put forth a good effort for the losing side as he rushed for 144 yards.
Meanwhile, East Central's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. They were beaten by Gautier 34-7. Having soared to a lofty 35 points in the game before, East Central couldn't push the score so high this time.
Vancleave's loss dropped their record down to 2-6. As for East Central, their defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their overall record down to 2-6.
Vancleave came up short against East Central in their previous matchup back in November of 2022, falling 28-21. Can Vancleave avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
