Walden Grove had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the eight-run drubbing they dealt Sahuaro on Wednesday. The Red Wolves put the hurt on the Cougars with a sharp 11-3 victory. The result was nothing new for the Red Wolves, who have now won five matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

Jaxsen Philistine was a standout: he scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-2. Another player making a difference was Angel Armenta, who scored two runs while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances.

Walden Grove always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .538. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive contests.

Walden Grove's win bumped their record up to 8-5. As for Sahuaro, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-11-1.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Walden Grove will challenge Safford at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Red Wolves' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Bulldogs have averaged an impressive 6.3 runs per game this season. As for Sahuaro, they will square off against Catalina Foothills at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Falcons' pitching crew has only allowed 3.7 runs per game this season, so the Cougars' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
