Softball Recap: Largo Makes It Four in a Row on the Road

Largo won the last time they faced Indian Rocks Christian and things went their way on Friday too. Largo was the clear victor by a 14-1 margin over Indian Rocks Christian. Considering the Packers have won six games by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Paige Sofge made a splash no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out eight over five innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in April of 2024. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.

In other batting news, Miranda Rollins was incredible, scoring four runs and stealing two bases while going 3-for-3. What's more, she posted two RBI, the most she's had since back in April of 2024. Claire Meloy was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while going 1-for-2.

Largo was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .484. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Indian Rocks Christian only posted a batting average of .211.

Largo's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-4. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Indian Rocks Christian, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-10.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Largo will challenge St. Petersburg at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Indian Rocks Christian, they will square off against Clearwater Central Catholic at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Indian Rocks Christian's pitchers better be ready for this one: Clearwater Central Catholic has averaged an impressive 8.2 runs per game this season.
