The Red Cloud Crusaders's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. They took a 56-45 hit to the loss column at the hands of Spearfish. If Red Cloud hoped to take revenge for the 56-46 loss against they when the teams met, then they were left disappointed.
Despite the loss, Red Cloud still got an impressive performance from Monty Montileaux, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and ten rebounds. Caden Pourier was another key contributor, scoring five points along with two steals.
Spearfish's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Dylon Doren, who scored 14 points along with eight rebounds and four steals. Another player making a difference was Seth Hamilton, who scored 15 points along with five assists and five rebounds.
Red Cloud's loss dropped their record down to 6-5. As for Spearfish, the win got them back to even at 4-4.
Red Cloud will be playing at home against Pine Ridge at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Pine Ridge presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Red Cloud in South Dakota (Pine Ridge is ranked eighth, while Red Cloud is ranked 54th). As for Spearfish, they will head out on the road to face off against More at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. More will be looking to keep their four-game home win streak alive.
