After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Joliet West, the Oak Park-River Forest Huskies were happy to have found some success on Wednesday. They walked away with a 46-38 victory over Simeon. For Oak Park-River Forest, this counts as revenge for the 60-44 defeat Simeon walked away with the last time they faced one another back in November of 2015.
Among those leading the charge was Genevieve Simkowski, who scored 12 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Taylor Smith, who scored seven points.
Simeon's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Dijiona Berrien, who scored 15 points along with eight rebounds and three steals. Another player making a difference was Sheliyah Battle, who scored 12 points.
Oak Park-River Forest's victory bumped their record up to 2-13. As for Simeon, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-6.
Oak Park-River Forest is on the road again on Thursday and play against Taft at 11:30 a.m. on December 28th. Taft is coming into the match on a six-game losing streak. Simeon won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Jones at 8:30 a.m. on December 28th. Jones presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Simeon in Illinois (Jones is ranked 189th, while Simeon is ranked 390th).
