The South Salem Saxons pushed their score all the way to 70 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell just short of South Eugene by a score of 73-70. Despite running the score up even higher than they did on Tuesday (67), South Salem still had to take the loss.
South Eugene was led to victory by Levi Hawes and Landyn Bryant. Hawes dropped a double-double on 14 points and 10 rebounds, while Bryant scored 19 points. Harrison Thomas was another key contributor, scoring 8 points along with 5 rebounds.
This is the second loss in a row for South Salem and nudges their season record down to 1-2. As for South Eugene, they now have a winning record of 2-1.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. South Salem will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Glencoe on December 27th. As for South Eugene, they will head out on the road to face off against Southridge at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
