Bertie was not able to break out of their rough patch  on Tuesday as the team picked up their fifth straight  loss  dating back to last season. They lost  3-0 to the Manteo Redskins. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Redskins this season, as they also lost their prior matchup  3-0  on Tuesday.
 The final score came out to 25-11, 25-2,  25-8.
 Manteo found their leader in sophomore  Kabriya Spencer, who  had 17  aces. With that strong performance,  Spencer is now averaging an impressive 3.4  aces per game.  Franni Evans also deserves some recognition as  she  had her first  kills of the season.
Bertie's defeat dropped their record down to 0-4. As for Manteo, their victory was  their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season, which  pushed their record up to 10-0.
 We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Bertie will  take on  rival Holmes  at 4:30  p.m.  on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Manteo is set to  square off against  their familiar foe Perquimans  at 6:00  p.m.  on Thursday.
