The Freeport Bulldogs lost to the Poplar Springs Atomics back in January of 2023, but the Freeport Bulldogs didn't allow the Poplar Springs Atomics the same satisfaction on Thursday. Freeport took down the Atomics 52-38. Given Freeport's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 243rd, while the Atomics are ranked 557th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Freeport's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jasmine Miles, who scored 17 points along with three steals. Miles is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed three or more in the last five games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Sienna Fisher, who scored ten points along with six rebounds and three steals.
Freeport's win bumped their record up to 12-10. As for Poplar Springs, they are on a 19-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-19.
Freeport will look to defend their home court on Monday against the Hoboes at 6:00 p.m. Laurel Hill has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 198 points over their last three games. As for Poplar Springs, they will face off against the Wildcats at TBD on Monday.
