The Riverside Pirates's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their third straight loss. They fell to Yamhill-Carlton 35-30. That's two games in a row now that Riverside has lost by exactly five points.
Riverside's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Julie Magana, who scored eight points along with 11 steals and seven rebounds, and Justein Tido who scored seven points along with seven rebounds and six steals. Magana is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season.
Riverside's loss dropped their record down to 6-4. As for Yamhill-Carlton, the victory was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 6-2.
Riverside will wrap up 2023 with a road trip to face off against North Marion at 1:00 p.m. on Friday. Yamhill-Carlton won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Cottage Grove on December 29th. Cottage Grove is looking to tack on another W to their three-game streak on the road.
