Baseball Recap: Luke Mitchell's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Lincoln Southwest over Papillion-Lavista South

Lincoln Southwest was the 4-0 winner over Papillion-LaVista South when they last played one another back in March of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. Lincoln Southwest might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 7-5 to Papillion-LaVista South, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior. The Silver Hawks have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Lincoln Southwest got a good showing from Rayce Hornung-Relka, who pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits.

At the plate, Lincoln Southwest saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Luke Mitchell, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3. Kaleb Bolte also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

Lincoln Southwest suffered their first road defeat, dropping their record down to 2-2. As for Papillion-LaVista South, the win keeps they at an undefeated 6-0.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Lincoln Southwest will challenge Fremont on Monday. As for Papillion-LaVista South, they will take on Olathe West at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday.
