The Goliad Tigers will head out on the road to face off against the Incarnate Word Academy Angels at 3:15 p.m. on Thursday. Goliad will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings (they are ranked 1141st, while Incarnate Word Academy is ranked 356th).
Last Tuesday, it was a hard-fought matchup, but Goliad had to settle for a 41-39 loss against Lifegate Christian. Goliad has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Meanwhile, Incarnate Word Academy had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 22.4 points), and they went ahead and made it six two weeks ago. They enjoyed a cozy 49-34 win over Aransas Pass.
Emma Romanczyk continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 16 points and 12 rebounds. The contest was her fourth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Lily Herandez, who scored 12 points.
Goliad has been struggling recently, as they've lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-12 record this season. As for Incarnate Word Academy, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 16-5 record this season.
