Softball Recap: Acton-Boxborough Has No Trouble Against Wayland

The matchup between Acton-Boxborough and Wayland on Monday hardly resembled the 2-1 effort from their previous meeting. The Revolution were the clear victors by a 21-2 margin over the Warriors. The Revolution haven't had any issues with the Warriors recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive win against them.

Aislinn Ryan made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and not a single walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up a single earned run in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-5 with two runs and one RBI.

In other batting news, Ila Gillespie was incredible, going 2-for-4 with four runs, one triple, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Cassidy Ford, who got on base in three of her five plate appearances with four runs, one triple, and one stolen base.

Acton-Boxborough pushed their record up to 5-2 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.0 runs over those games. As for Wayland, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-4.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Acton-Boxborough will head out to face off against Shrewsbury at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Wayland, they will venture away from home to challenge Cambridge Rindge & Latin at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
