I Section IV recap October 1, 2013
Mountain Pointe added to the longest winning streak in I Section IV this week by beating Hamilton, 37-27. The win marks sixth in a row for the the Pride.
Desert Vista took down Cienega 47-21 last week, the largest margin of any game. Saxon McDonald in the win.
Ryan Velez provided a threat through the air and on the ground as Brophy College Prep lost to Desert Ridge. Velez's key target this week was Matt Meyer, who caught 2 passes for 22 yards.
Anthony Ford was the best wideout in the league this week as Dobson lost to Gilbert. Ford racked up 2 receptions for 75 yards. Zaneil Chatman helped Dobson's passing attack out by catching 4 balls for 45 yards.
Mountain Pointe's Antonio Hinojosa and Jalen Brown have formed a dream team this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Hinojosa has thrown for 820 yards this season, while Brown, a 6-foot-1 receiver, has 17 catches for 387 yards. Velez from the Broncos leads the league in rushing with 367 yards.
The marquee game in I Section IV this week will be the clash between the Thunder and Norris Vaughan's team. Desert Vista enters the contest ranked 22nd in the state, while the Pride ranks first.
