Fresno Christian and Orcutt Academy are an even 3-3 against one another since August of 2014, but not for long. The Fresno Christian Eagles will be playing in front of their home fans against the Orcutt Academy Spartans at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Fresno Christian is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt want to keep things rolling.
Last Friday, Fresno Christian faced Sierra in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Fresno Christian took down Sierra 48-34. This was one game where the offenses had no trouble playing at a high level.
Fresno Christian's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Logan Stotts led the charge by throwing for 309 yards and seven touchdowns while completing 72.7% of his passes. Stotts hasn't dropped below three passing touchdowns for eight straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Joshua Kubota, who picked up 210 receiving yards and five touchdowns.
Meanwhile, it's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 42-6, which was the final score in Orcutt Academy's tilt against Riverdale Christian on Saturday. Orcutt Academy was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 36-0.
Fresno Christian's win was their ninth straight on the road (dating back to last season), which bumped their overall record up to 9-0. They've been dominating during the matchups in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 30.56 points. As for Orcutt Academy, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 4-4.
Everything came up roses for Fresno Christian against Orcutt Academy in their previous meeting back in October of 2022 as the team secured a 54-14 victory. Will Fresno Christian repeat their success, or does Orcutt Academy have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
