The Spartanburg Vikings and the J.L. Mann Patriots squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but sadly the Spartanburg Vikings had to settle for second. The team lost despite holding J.L. Mann to a paltry 74 yards. A big part of that defensive dominance came down to Spartanburg's ability to keep the quarterback under pressure: the team laid the passer out six times before it was all said and done. Peyton Jones was especially locked on to J.L. Mann's QB and sacked him 2.5 times.
Spartanburg's loss dropped their record down to 6-6. As for J.L. Mann, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 11-2.
Spartanburg does not have any more games scheduled as of now. J.L. Mann will stay at home for another week and welcome Hillcrest at 7:30 p.m. on November 17th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in South Carolina (Hillcrest is ranked tenth, while J.L. Mann is ranked 15th).
