While Crestwood's win against Wickliffe wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Red Devils won by a set and slipped past the Blue Devils 3-2. The victory continues a trend for the Red Devils in their matchups with the Blue Devils: they've now won nine in a row.
Crestwood took Wickliffe into a fifth set where they got it done with a nine-point win. The match finished with set scores of 22-25, 25-20, 25-15, 16-25, 15-6.
Crestwood can attribute much of their success to HALEY PODOJIL, who had eight digs and four aces, and AUDREY JULIAN, who had 16 digs and two aces. Those two aces gave JULIAN a new career-high. KATRINA RICHARDS also deserves some recognition as she served her first ace of the season.
They weren't the only good servers: Crestwood was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 22 aces. That's the most aces they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Kirtland, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Thursday. They came out on top against Cuyahoga Heights by a score of 3-1 on Monday.
Kirtland had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next three. The final score came out to 22-25, 25-20, 25-19, 25-15.
Crestwood picked up their first home win, bumping their record up to 5-14. As for Kirtland, their record now sits at 13-6.
Crestwood suffered a grim 3-0 defeat to Kirtland in their previous matchup back in September. Can the Red Devils avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
