Basketball Game Preview: Appling County Pirates vs. Tattnall County Warriors

Appling County hasn't had much luck against Tattnall County recently, but that could start to change on Saturday. The Appling County Pirates will host the Tattnall County Warriors at 6:00 p.m. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Appling County comes in on six and Tattnall County on eight.

Appling County is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. Everything went their way against Cook on Thursday as Appling County made off with a 75-49 win. The Pirates have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight games by 23 points or more this season.

Appling County relied on the efforts of Perri Mitchell, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 15 boards, and Shamiah Barnum, who posted 23 points and four steals. The dominant performance gave Barnum a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Keniyah White, who earned 15 points.

Appling County smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 21 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 18 offensive rebounds in six consecutive matches.

Meanwhile, Tattnall County was able to grind out a solid victory over Pierce County on Friday, taking the game 44-33. Given the Warriors' advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 148th, while the Bears are ranked 483rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Tattnall County is also on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten contests, which provided a nice bump to their 13-3 record this season. As for Appling County, they pushed their record up to 13-7 with the win, which was their third straight on the road.
