The Stewart County Rebels will head out on the road to face off against the Heritage Christian Academy Warriors at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Stewart County is coming into the contest on a three-game losing streak.
Last Tuesday, things could have been worse for Stewart County, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 61-44 loss to Trigg County. While losing is never fun, Stewart County can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 403rd in Tennessee, while Trigg County is ranked 180th in Kentucky).
Meanwhile, winning is just a little bit easier when you work as a team to rack up seven more assists than your opponent, a fact Heritage Christian Academy proved on Tuesday. They strolled past Foundation Christian Academy with points to spare, taking the game 69-52. Heritage Christian Academy pushed the score to 61-29 by the end of the third, a deficit Foundation Christian Academy cut but never quite recovered from.
Layton Giltner and Jason Leek were among the main playmakers for Heritage Christian Academy as the former dropped a double-double on 17 points and 16 rebounds and the latter scored 24 points along with seven steals and six rebounds. Giltner hasn't dropped below nine rebounds for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Cash Bolinger, who scored 12 points along with two steals.
Stewart County dropped their record down to 3-17 with that defeat, which was their third straight at home. As for Heritage Christian Academy, their victory bumped their record up to 10-11.
