The Jensen Beach Falcons pushed their score all the way to 59 on Thursday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 64-59 hit to the loss column at the hands of Westwood. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Tuesday (57), Jensen Beach still had to take the loss.
Despite the loss, Jensen Beach still got an impressive performance from Cordell Wilkins, who scored 19 points along with five rebounds and five steals. Wilkins has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last four times he's played. Charlie Alexander was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with eight rebounds.
Westwood found their leader in underclassman Jordan Crutchfield, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 25 rebounds. Crutchfield also grabbed two+ steals for the first time this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Marvenshy Duroseau, who scored 15 points along with seven rebounds and three steals.
Jensen Beach now has a losing record at 11-12. As for Westwood, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-15.
Jensen Beach will face off against the Patriots at TBD on Tuesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Florida (American Heritage is ranked 319th, while the Falcons are ranked 318th). Westwood is on the road again on Tuesday and plays the Brahmans at 6:00 p.m. on February 6th. Hopefully Okeechobee focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 20 on Thursday.
