Reading has gone a perfect 3-0 against Clark Montessori recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Blue Devils will face off against the Cougars at 5:00 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Reading came out on top against Finneytown on Friday thanks in part to the team's impressive eight-run seventh inning. The Blue Devils put the hurt on the Wildcats with a sharp 13-3 victory. The Blue Devils not only won on Friday, but they posted their biggest win since April 21st (when they won 28-0).

Connor Davis made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He struck out 13 batters over six innings while giving up just two earned runs off one hit. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than nine strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, four RBI, and one run. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, Charlie Hess was incredible, getting on base in all five of his plate appearances with three runs, three doubles, and two RBI. That's the most runs he has posted over his last ten matchups. The team also got some help courtesy of Carter Reed, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Reading always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .537. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Finneytown only posted an OBP of .344.
Meanwhile, Clark Montessori had to endure a three-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. Everything went their way against Mt. Healthy on Wednesday as they made off with a 12-1 win. Considering the Cougars have won eight games by more than seven runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.
Ethan Ernst was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 14 over six innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Clark Montessori is undefeated when he allows at most one earned run, but 7-11 otherwise. Ernst was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-5 with one run and one RBI.
In other batting news, Clark Montessori let Jaxon Wilkerson and Andrew Vollner run wild. Wilkerson went 1-for-3 with three RBI, one run, and one double, while Vollner went a perfect 1-for-1 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. Wilkerson has become a key player for Clark Montessori: the team is undefeated when he posts at least three RBI, but 9-11 otherwise. Cian Wright was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Clark Montessori now has a winning record of 12-11. As for Reading, their record now sits at 12-6.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Thursday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Reading has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.6 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Clark Montessori struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7.6 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Everything went Reading's way against Clark Montessori when the teams last played back in April of 2024, as Reading made off with a 12-6 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Blue Devils since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
