Basketball Game Preview: Ascent Classical Academy Guardians vs. Golden View Classical Academy Sentinels

The Ascent Classical Academy Guardians will head out to take on the Golden View Classical Academy Sentinels on Monday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Last Friday, Ascent Classical Academy took a blow against Rocky Mountain Lutheran, falling 42-13. The game marked the Guardians' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Meanwhile, Golden View Classical Academy has relied on a stalwart defense averaging 29.87 points allowed per game, but that average took a hit on Saturday. They were dealt a 66-35 defeat at the hands of Thomas MacLaren School. While losing is never fun, the Sentinels can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 229th, while the Highlanders are ranked 100th).

Ascent Classical Academy will need to focus on slowing down Jocelyn Le, one of several Golden View Classical Academy players who made an impact when they last played. She dropped a double-double on 13 points and 13 rebounds. Le continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Gianna Acocella, who posted nine points.

Even though they lost, Golden View Classical Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive rebounds in four consecutive matchups.

Golden View Classical Academy's loss dropped their record down to 10-5. As for Ascent Classical Academy, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-8 record this season.

Ascent Classical Academy came up short against Golden View Classical Academy when the teams last played back in December of 2024, falling 35-22. Can Ascent Classical Academy avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
