It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact the Kenwood Broncos can now relate to. They received a tough blow on Friday as they fell 21-7 to the Mustangs. While losing is never fun, Kenwood can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois football rankings (they are ranked 70th, while St. Rita is ranked 16th).
St. Rita can attribute much of their success to Derrick Stewart, who rushed for 125 yards and three touchdowns.
Another reason for the win was St. Rita's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for six sacks. J.P. Danaher was especially locked on to Kenwood's QB and sacked him four times.
Kenwood's loss dropped their record down to 8-5. As for St. Rita, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 8-5.
Kenwood does not have any more games scheduled as of now. St. Rita also has no future games currently scheduled.
