Parker and Englewood are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2018, but likely not for long. The Braves will be playing at home against the Rams at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Parker is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.9 runs per game this season.
Parker came into this matchup off a tough ten-run defeat on Monday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of Duval Charter by a score of 4-2 on Tuesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Braves have suffered since February 17th.
Brody Frye made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole a base while going 3-for-4.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Englewood, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. They blew past Covenant School of Jacksonville 9-1 on Thursday. The Rams not only won on Thursday, but they posted their biggest win since February 24th.
Tito Guerrero was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching four innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in 12 consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base and one RBI.
In other batting news, Brian Cartaya was excellent, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Ranses Vanero, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.
Englewood pushed their record up to 10-9 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.2 runs on average over those games. As for Parker, their defeat ended a six-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 10-9.
Englewood's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Parker hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .339. It's a different story for Englewood, though, as they've only averaged .242. Will they be able to contain Parker's hitters?
Parker suffered a grim 13-1 defeat to Englewood in their previous matchup back in March of 2024. Will the Braves have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other baseball content.
