If the Barstow Aztecs were feeling good off their 72-33 takedown of the University Prep Jaguars on Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Barstow fell 66-55 to Silver Valley on Thursday. While losing is never fun, Barstow can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 1108th, while Silver Valley is ranked 443rd).
Despite the loss, Barstow still got an impressive performance from Johntae Drisdom, who scored 16 points along with six rebounds. Drisdom hasn't dropped below two steals for four straight games. Quesey Gaoa was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with five steals.
Jaden Sassone continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Silver Valley, dropping a double-double on 15 points and 11 rebounds. Those 11 rebounds set a new season-high mark for Sassone. The team also got some help courtesy of Stephen Crawford, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 12 rebounds.
Barstow has been struggling recently, as they've lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-5 record this season. As for Silver Valley, the win (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 7-1.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Barstow will take on Burroughs at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Silver Valley won't have much time to rest: their next game is against PAL Academy at 5:30 p.m. on December 8th.
