Fans got a thrill when Thomas Spears-So and Damonte Holiday connected against Clairemont. The connection went for 78 yards, the longest such play in City this season.
Adding to the longest winning streak in the league this week, Hoover beat the Chieftains 48-7. The win marks fourth in a row for the the Cardinals.
Hoover's dynamic duo of Spears-So and Holiday proved to be unstoppable against Clairemont, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Spears-So threw for 230 yards and 2 touchdowns and Holiday had 122 yards receiving. Jarijah Harrison helped Hoover's passing attack out by catching 1 ball for 57 yards.
Patrick Henry's Morgan Hatch and Jabril Clewis led the league in both passing and receiving yards. 5-10 quarterback Hatch has thrown for 753 yards this season, while Clewis has 26 catches for 300 yards. Serra's Willie Martinez leads the league in rushing yards with 616.
One of City's premier quarterbacks will go head-to-head with its top pass rusher when the Patriots and the Conquistadors face off next week.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Jerry Ralph's team takes on Morse. The Cardinals are in first place, while the Tigers are in third place.
San Diego lost to Grossmont 61-6 last week, the largest margin of any game.
