Even though the Lauralton Hall Crusaders scored an imposing 55 points on Thursday, the Shelton Gaels still came out on top. Shelton snuck past Lauralton Hall with a 59-55 victory. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Shelton.
Despite the loss, Lauralton Hall still got an impressive performance from Maura Bosse, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 12 rebounds. That was a full 38.2% of Lauralton Hall's points, marking the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Lauren Marsden was another key contributor, scoring 16 points along with five rebounds.
Even though they lost, Lauralton Hall were working as a unit and finished the game with ten assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.
Shelton's win ended a seven-game drought at home and bumped them up to 4-8. As for Lauralton Hall, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-8 record this season.
Shelton will head out on the road to face off against Sacred Heart Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Sacred Heart Academy presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Shelton in Connecticut (Sacred Heart Academy is ranked first, while Shelton is ranked 130th). As for Lauralton Hall, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Mercy at 6:15 p.m. on Monday.
