Virginia City had a senior duo take command as Caleb Olee rushed for 134 yards and one touchdown on only 14 carries and Silas Green rushed for 110 yards and one TD on only 15 carries. Olee also deserves a shoutout for his performance on D, making seven total tackles and defending one pass.
Virginia City's defense made their presence known, laying out Brysyn Lake. three times. Leading the way was Green with two sacks.
Despite the loss, Loyalton still got an impressive performance from Lake, who rushed for 207 yards while picking up 12.9 yards per carry, and also threw for 41 yards and one touchdown. Lake showed off some serious burst, turning on the afterburners on one carry for 63 yards.
The victory got Virginia City back to even at 1-1.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Virginia City will face off against Wells at 2:30 p.m. on Friday.
