The Roaring Fork Rams will head out on the road to face off against the Basalt Longhorns at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Hopefully Roaring Fork focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 17 on Friday.
Roaring Fork's four-game losing streak dating back to last season came to an end. They took their contest on the road with ease, bagging a 63-33 win over Brush. That looming 63-33 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for Roaring Fork yet this season.
Noel Richardson was his usual excellent self, scoring 24 points along with seven rebounds and five steals. The contest was Richardson's third in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Ethan Wilson, who scored nine points.
Meanwhile, Basalt came up short against Montrose on Friday and fell 57-45. While losing is never fun, Basalt can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 140th, while Montrose is ranked 17th).
The losing side was boosted by Elias Schendler, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 11 rebounds. Schendler is absolutely dominating the rebound category: he's posted at least eight every time he's taken the court this season. Zealand Lane was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with five rebounds.
Roaring Fork's victory bumped their record up to 1-3. As for Basalt, their loss dropped their record down to an identical 1-3.
Roaring Fork came up short against Basalt in their previous meeting back in December of 2022, falling 55-43. Can Roaring Fork avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
