The Colorado Academy Mustangs scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Tuesday. They snuck past Kent Denver with a 80-76 win. The victory was familiar territory for Colorado Academy who now have four in a row.
Colorado Academy got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Simeon Woldeyohannes out in front who scored 22 points along with seven assists and six rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Woldeyohannes has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Jason Bratis, who scored 20 points along with seven rebounds.
Kent Denver's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Caleb Fay, who scored 16 points along with seven rebounds and three steals. Fay is absolutely dominating the steal category: he's posted at least two every time he's taken the court this season. Alex Padalino was another key contributor, scoring 15 points along with two steals.
Even though they lost, Kent Denver smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Colorado Academy only pulled down five offensive rebounds.
Colorado Academy has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 13-2 record this season. As for Kent Denver, their loss dropped their record down to 12-2.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Colorado Academy's road trip will continue as they head out to face The Academy at 7:00 p.m. on January 25th. The Academy is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 53.9 points per game. As for Kent Denver, they will head out on the road to challenge DSST: Green Valley Ranch at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. DSST: Green Valley Ranch will be looking to keep their five-game home win streak alive.
