The Palmetto Scholars Academy Phoenix will head out on the road to take on the Cross Trojans at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Palmetto Scholars Academy is coming into the match on a five-game losing streak.
Last Tuesday, Palmetto Scholars Academy was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 49-44 to St. John's. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Palmetto Scholars Academy in their matchups with St. John's: they've now lost six in a row.
Meanwhile, Cross put the finishing touches on their eighth blowout victory of the season on Tuesday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Charleston Math & Science 72-40 on the road. The win made it back-to-back wins for Cross.
It was another big night for Jamez Way, who scored 20 points along with five rebounds and four steals. Way is absolutely dominating the steal category: he's posted at least two every time he's taken the court this season. Caden Ramsey was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with seven rebounds and two steals.
Palmetto Scholars Academy bumped their record down to 2-6 with that loss, which was their third straight on the road. As for Cross, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 10-4 record this season.
Palmetto Scholars Academy couldn't quite finish off Cross in their previous matchup back in February of 2023 and fell 53-51. Can Palmetto Scholars Academy avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
