Marine recap November 5, 2013
Adding to the longest winning streak in Marine this week, Carson beat Banning 55-13. The win marks fifth in a row for the the Colts.
Narbonne took down Gardena 42-0 last week, the largest margin of any game. Angel Garcia during the win.
The Pilots' offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Gabe Ruiz threw for 70 and 1 touchdown and Janson Navarrete had 54 yards receiving. On the ground Jacob Ortiz contributed 50 yards. Stwart Garcia helped Banning's passing attack out by catching 2 balls for 11 yards.
Ortiz was the most successful running back in the league this week. He ran for 50 yards on 13 carries as Banning fell to Carson. Jeremiah Valoaga also contributed to the rushing game with 40 yards on the ground.
Banning's offense cannot be tamed this season and the Pilots feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Austin Mendoza has thrown for 1,343 yards and 12 touchdowns this season, while Navarrete has 54 catches for 544 yards.
The Gauchos are in first place, while kevin mccall's team is in third place.
There should be lots of points scored when Narbonne and the Colts face off this week. The top two offenses in the league, Manuel Douglas' team comes in having scored 221 this season, while Carson has scored 213. The Gauchos scored 42 points last week as they beat the Panthers.
The Colts led the league in scoring this week by notching 55 points on John Aponte's team.
