AISA A Region 2 recap October 8, 2013
Sparta Academy was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from fifth to third in AISA A Region 2. The Sparta Warriors defeated Eastwood Christian 38-0 earlier in the week.
Pickens Academy extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Jackson Academy, 13-0. The win marks sixth in a row for the the Pirates.
Jackson Academy's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Eagles feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Caleb Anderson has thrown for 711 yards and 7 touchdowns this season, while Taylor Roberts has 15 catches for 280 yards.
The top two teams in the league will face off this week when first place Pickens Academy takes on second place Marengo Academy. Last week, Pickens Academy topped the Eagles, while Marengo Academy beat Meadowview Christian.
The top two defenses in the league will face off this season when the Longhorns take on Josh Thacker's team. Marengo Academy has allowed 46 points this season, while the Pirates have given up 58. Eddie Freeman's team allowed 6 points last week as it topped the Trojans.
