McKeel Academy pulled ahead with a 46-45 photo finish over Mount Dora Christian Academy. For McKeel Academy, this counts as revenge for the 69-50 loss Mount Dora Christian Academy walked away with the last time they faced one another back in December of 2016.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead McKeel Academy to victory, but perhaps none more so than Alex Sessoms, who scored 13 points along with five rebounds and five steals. Sessoms hasn't dropped below two steals for three straight games. Another player making a difference was David St. Jean, who scored 12 points.
McKeel Academy has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 12-4 record this season. As for Mount Dora Christian Academy, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 11-7.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. McKeel Academy and Haines City will face off at 8:00 p.m. on January 15th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Haines City is out to stop a three-game streak of losses at home. As for Mount Dora Christian Academy, they will head out on the road to challenge Foundation Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Foundation Academy knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past five contests -- so hopefully Mount Dora Christian Academy likes a good challenge.
