Las Lomas has gone a perfect 10-0 against Mt. Diablo recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Knights will take on the Red Devils at 4:30 p.m. Las Lomas is coming into the contest hot, having won their last four games.
While Las Lomas' win against Concord wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Knights had just enough and edged out the Bears 8-6. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Knights have posted against the Bears since April 12, 2022.
Las Lomas' win was truly a team effort as seven different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Lexie Kou, who went 2-for-4 with two runs. Another was Eva Murallo, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Las Lomas kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in six consecutive matches.
Meanwhile, Mt. Diablo lost 13-4 to Berean Christian on Tuesday. The Red Devils have struggled against the Eagles recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive lost meeting.
Leif Scallin made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and got on base in all three of her plate appearances with four stolen bases and one run. Ashley Cornejo was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and one run.
Las Lomas' victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-8. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games. As for Mt. Diablo, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-16.
Mt. Diablo's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Las Lomas has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 10.2 hits per game. It's a different story for Mt. Diablo, though, as they've been averaging 13.8 hits. Given Las Lomas' sizable advantage in that area, the Red Devils will need to find a way to close that gap.
Las Lomas took their victory against Mt. Diablo in their previous meeting two weeks ago by a conclusive 27-1 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Knights since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
