The McFarland Cougars entered their tilt with the Delano Tigers with five consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with six. McFarland snuck past Delano with a 43-37 victory on Tuesday. That's another feather in the cap for McFarland, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Delano lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Ibrahim Shuwait, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 15 rebounds. Shuwait is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down eight or more in the last 12 games he's played. Another player making a difference was Jotham Amodo, who scored eight points along with two steals.
McFarland pushed their record up to 17-6 with that victory, which was their third straight on the road. As for Delano, their defeat ended a six-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 14-7.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. McFarland will take on Wasco at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Delano, they will be playing at home against Taft at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Taft knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past nine matchups -- so hopefully Delano likes a good challenge.
