Softball Game Preview: Clear Springs Chargers vs. Clear Lake Falcons

Clear Springs is 9-1 against Clear Lake since April of 2016 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Clear Springs Chargers will be playing in front of their home fans against the Clear Lake Falcons at 6:30 p.m. Clear Springs is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.5 runs per game this season.

Clear Springs made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Clear Brook, but they still couldn't quite topple them. Clear Springs blew past Clear Brook 19-7 on Tuesday. The victory was nothing new for the Chargers as they're now sitting on three straight.

Clear Springs got a massive performance out of Erianna Garcia, who went 4-for-6 with one home run, six RBI, and two doubles. Those six RBI gave Garcia a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Alana Strever, who went 3-for-5 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI.

Garcia wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Clear Springs kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 18 hits. They got five more hits than Clear Brook's also-impressive total of 13.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Clear Lake, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Tuesday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past Brazoswood 5-4. While the Falcons didn't have the best season last year (they finished 10-16), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Clear Springs pushed their record up to 8-2 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 7.5 runs. As for Clear Lake, their win bumped their record up to 9-1.

Clear Springs skirted past Clear Lake 3-2 in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Will Clear Springs repeat their success, or does Clear Lake have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
