The Monument Valley Cougars's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. They were outmatched by Piute on the road and fell 65-30. Monument Valley lost against Piute in their previous head to head back in February of 2019, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 88-23 score last time.
Despite the loss, Monument Valley still got an impressive performance from Melias Cly, who scored 15 points. Another player making a difference was Braxton Goodshield, who scored nine points.
Monument Valley bumped their record down to 2-3 with that defeat, which was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Piute, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-1.
Monument Valley will be playing in front of their home fans against Milford at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Utah (Milford is ranked 109th, while Monument Valley is ranked 130th). As for Piute, they will head out on the road to face off against Rich at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday. Rich knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past three contests -- so hopefully Piute likes a good challenge.
