Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but unfortunately for the Elko Indians, they weren't the ones who walked away with it. They took a 21-14 hit to the loss column at the hands of Sports Leadership & Management on Saturday. Elko's loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.
Sports Leadership & Management got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Damien Nevil out in front who rushed for 160 yards and a touchdown. Another player making a difference was Alaijah Young, who rushed for 67 yards and a touchdown on only six carries.
Elko's defeat dropped their record down to 7-4. As for Sports Leadership & Management, they pushed their record up to 10-1 with that win, which was their fifth straight at home.
Elko does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Sports Leadership & Management will take on Truckee at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. Truckee will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in their respective state's rankings (they are ranked 192nd in California, while Sports Leadership & Management is ranked 17th in Nevada).
