The Berwick Bulldogs will head out on the road to square off against the Dallas Mountaineers at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Berwick is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.2 runs per game this season.
Berwick will roll into the contest after a wild two-game stretch: they didn't score any runs on Monday, then bounced right back against Greater Nanticoke Area on Thursday. The Bulldogs put the hurt on the Trojans with a sharp 14-1 win. The Bulldogs haven't had any issues with the Trojans recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive victory against them.
Makayla Brown made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Brown was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with four runs. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kennedy Hunter, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with four runs and two RBI. Those four runs gave her a new career-high. Ashlyn Klahold was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three runs.
Berwick was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .419. They are 5-2 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
The scorekeeper got an easy start on Wednesday as neither Dallas nor Pittston made it on the board until the fifth inning. The Mountaineers came out on top in a nail-biter against the Patriots, sneaking past 3-2. The win was nothing new for the Mountaineers as they're now sitting on six straight.
NINA BARROUK made a splash while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 19 over ten innings pitched. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts in nine consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with one double.
BARROUK wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was SYDNEY HAYDU, who went 2-for-5 with two RBI.
Dallas' victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-3. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.5 runs on average over those games. As for Berwick, their record is now 7-8.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Friday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Berwick has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.7 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Dallas struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 11.4 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Berwick skirted past Dallas 6-4 in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Bulldogs since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
