The Manhattan Tigers had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. The stars were shining brightly for them in a 64-48 win over Jefferson on Friday. That's another feather in the cap for Manhattan, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Jefferson's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Colt Tietje, who scored 19 points, and Dalton Noble who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 14 rebounds. Tietje continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Hunter Stevens, who scored 12 points along with five rebounds.
Manhattan's win was their third straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 1-0. As for Jefferson, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-2.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Manhattan will square off against Sweet Grass County at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Jefferson and Lone Peak will face off at 6:00 p.m. on December 19th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. One thing working in Lone Peak's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last three contests.
