Northwest is 1-8 against Minford since April of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Mohawks will be playing in front of their home fans against the Falcons at 5:00 p.m. Northwest is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.2 runs per game this season.
On Monday, Northwest came up short against Peebles and fell 5-1.
Northwest saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Peyton Wolfe, who went 1-for-3 with one RBI.
Meanwhile, Minford won against Wellston on Thursday with 11 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Monday. Everything went the Falcons' way against Oak Hill as they made off with an 11-1 victory. The result was nothing new for the Falcons, who have now won ten matchups by six runs or more so far this season.
Mason Bradley made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out seven over four innings pitched. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in seven consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Carter Frazie, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Ty Borland was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run.
Minford was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .438. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Oak Hill only posted a batting average of .227.
The win made it two in a row for Minford and bumps their season record up to 15-2. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.0 runs over those games. As for Northwest, their defeat dropped their record down to 14-6.
Tuesday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Northwest hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .357. However, it's not like Minford struggles in that department as they've averaged .347. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Northwest got the 'W' when the teams last played back in May of 2025 against Minford by a conclusive 8-1 score. Do the Mohawks have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Falcons turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
