Cypress Falls hasn't had much luck against Memorial recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Cypress Falls Eagles will be playing at home against the Memorial Mustangs at 6:00 p.m. After the two teams made easy work of their previous opponents, one won't be so lucky on Tuesday.
Cypress Falls will roll into the game after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up two runs on Wednesday, then bounced right back against Cypress Springs on Friday. Cypress Falls blew past Cypress Springs 16-1. The Eagles haven't had any issues with the Panthers recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.
Kirah Gonzalez looked comfortable as she pitched three innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit.
At the plate, Aubrey Leblanc was a standout: she scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances. What's more, she also posted two RBI, the most she's had since back in February of 2024. Another player making a difference was Tyler Sharrett, who went a perfect3-for-3 with five RBI and two doubles.
Cypress Falls always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .714. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Cypress Springs only posted an OBP of .333.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Memorial). Everything went their way against Fort Bend Austin on Saturday as Memorial made off with a 17-5 victory. The team's explosion at the plate also rewarded the Mustangs with their most commanding win of the season.
The team relied heavily on Brooke Kearns, who scored three runs while going 2-for-2. She also put up an RBI, which washer first of the season. Reese Waggoner was another key player, scoring a run while going 1-for-2.
The win made it two in a row for Memorial and bumps their season record up to 5-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs over those games. As for Cypress Falls, the victory got them back to even at 1-1.
Cypress Falls suffered a grim 16-3 defeat to Memorial when the teams last played back in February of 2024. Will Cypress Falls have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the action for a full breakdown of the game and more softball content.
