Whittier Christian is 0-10 against Heritage Christian since January of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Whittier Christian Heralds' road trip will continue as they head out to face the Heritage Christian Warriors at 7:00 p.m. on January 19th. Whittier Christian will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps California Rankings (they are ranked 849th, while Heritage Christian is ranked 55th).
Whittier Christian suffered their biggest loss yet this season on Friday. They were beaten by Maranatha 71-39.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Leland Carrido, who scored ten points along with three steals. He has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Robert Sanchez, who scored nine points along with two steals.
Meanwhile, Heritage Christian had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 6 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Tuesday. They came out on top against Maranatha by a score of 54-47.
Whittier Christian bumped their record down to 8-14 with that defeat, which was their fifth straight on the road. As for Heritage Christian, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 15-8 record this season.
Whittier Christian took a serious blow against Heritage Christian when the teams last played two weeks ago, falling 81-29. The game was all but decided by halftime, at which point Whittier Christian was down 53-21.
