The Chase County Longhorns lost to the Holyoke Dragons back in February of 2016, but the Chase County Longhorns didn't allow the Holyoke Dragons the same satisfaction on Thursday. Chase County came out on top against Holyoke by a score of 45-36. The win made it back-to-back wins for Chase County.
Holyoke's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ellie Kleve, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 13 rebounds. Kleve has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last three times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Audrey Talavera, who scored 13 points along with six assists and five rebounds.
Chase County has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a massive bump to their 8-7 record this season. As for Holyoke, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-9.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Chase County will take on Southern Valley at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Southern Valley presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Chase County in Nebraska (Southern Valley is ranked 16th, while Chase County is ranked 128th). As for Holyoke, they won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Haxtun at 4:00 p.m. on January 26th. Hopefully Haxtun focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 22 last Saturday.
