It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but the Fowler Redcats had no problem doing just that on Friday. They blew past Lindsay 49-14 at home. Considering Fowler has won five matchups by more than 21 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
It was another big night for Jerod Bubba smith, who threw for 267 yards and three touchdowns while completing 72% of his passes, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground. Bubba smith has been hot recently, having posted three or more passing touchdowns the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was Matthew Luna, who rushed for 93 yards and a touchdown.
Ethan Cortes and Sebastian Ortiz certainly did their best on Friday to try and avoid the loss. Cortes rushed for 108 yards on only nine carries, while Ortiz picked up 18 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Fowler's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-6. They've been dominating during the contests in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 31 points. As for Lindsay, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost six of their last eight matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-7 record this season.
Fowler will face off against Boron at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Boron will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak. Lindsay does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
