It's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 49-21, which was the final score in Bryan's's tilt against Midway last Friday. While losing is never fun, Bryan can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 386th, while Midway is ranked 177th).
When it comes to explaining why Bryan lost, one person who can't be blamed is tj love. Despite the final result, he picked up 116 receiving yards and a touchdown. Love was no stranger to the big play, connecting with a big catch that went for 65 yards.
Midway got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Lathan Whisenton out in front who rushed for 159 yards and a touchdown. The team also got some help courtesy of Ty Brown, who threw for 250 yards and three touchdowns on only 14 passes.
This is the second loss in a row for Bryan and nudges their season record down to 3-6. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 17.0 points per game. As for Midway, their victory was their third straight on the road, which bumped their overall record up to 5-5.
Bryan will take on Hutto at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Hutto's favor is that they have now posted big point totals in their last four matches. As for Midway, they will be playing at home against Weiss at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Weiss will be coming into the match with an undefeated record on the line.
