McGavock is a perfect 10-0 against Antioch since April of 2017 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Raiders will square off against the Bears at 4:00 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Things were looking good for McGavock after they put the first run on the board on Wednesday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. They took a 10-5 hit to the loss column at the hands of LaVergne.
Micayla Russell spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned (and five unearned) runs on seven hits and racked up six Ks.
At the plate, Jasmine Dahl was cooking despite her team's loss, going 3-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Another player making a difference was Bailey Kelley, who went 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Antioch unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Thursday. They lost 11-5 to University School of Nashville.
Arianna Mitchell put in work while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over 4.1 innings while giving up just two earned (and nine unearned) runs off six hits. That's the fewest earned runs she has allowed since back in April of 2025. She was even better at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double. That double marked the first that she has hit this season.
In other batting news, Gabby Kendricks made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went a perfect 3-for-3 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Macie Payne also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.
McGavock now has a losing record of 2-3. As for Antioch, their record now sits at 3-2.
Tuesday's matchup might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. McGavock has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .521. However, it's not like Antioch struggles in that department as they've averaged .558. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
McGavock beat Antioch 7-4 when the teams last played back in May of 2025. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Raiders since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
