Rocky Mount found their leader in freshman Brelyn Moses, who almost dropped a double-double on 26 points and nine rebounds. Moses' evening made it five games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Semaj Parker, who went 7 for 8 en route to 16 points.
Rocky Mount smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive boards in 12 consecutive games.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Southern Nash). They enjoyed a cozy 60-45 win over Nash Central on Friday.
Southern Nash had a senior duo take command as Brandon Hill almost dropped a double-double on 17 points and nine boards and George Richardson dropped a double-double on 14 points and 12 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Hill has scored all season. Jaden Hartsfield was another key player, putting up ten points and three steals.
Rocky Mount is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 8-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.8 points per game. As for Southern Nash, they now have a winning record of 6-5.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Rocky Mount has been crashing the boards this season, having averaged 33.2 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Southern Nash struggles in that department as they've been averaging 35.8 boards. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Rocky Mount might still be hurting after the 58-37 defeat they got from Southern Nash in their previous matchup back in February of 2024. Can Rocky Mount avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
