Moffat County is 0-10 against Steamboat Springs since December of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The pair will face off at 7:00 p.m. on January 26th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.
Moffat County pushed their score all the way to 63 on Saturday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell 71-63 to Delta. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their last game on Friday (61), Moffat County still had to take the loss.
Loss or not, Moffat County got some senior leadership from Ian Champ hafey and Bryant Carlson. Champ hafey dropped a double-double on 13 points and 18 rebounds, while Carlson. scored 18 points along with five assists and five steals. Carlson is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last three games he's played. Jr Welch was another key contributor, scoring eight points.
Meanwhile, Steamboat Springs was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Saturday as they fell 50-46 to Summit.
Moffat County has been struggling recently, as they've lost five of their last six matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-9 record this season. As for Steamboat Springs, their loss dropped their record down to 6-8.
Moffat County came up short against Steamboat Springs in their previous matchup back in February of 2023, falling 34-28. Can Moffat County avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
