Even though the West Shore Wildcats scored an imposing 57 points on Tuesday, the Eau Gallie Commodores still came out on top. Eau Gallie walked away with a 66-57 victory over West Shore. This was payback for Eau Gallie, who suffered a 45-39 defeat the last time these two teams met.
Eau Gallie can attribute much of their success to Jay Latson, who scored 20 points along with 5 assists. That makes it two consecutive games in which Latson has scored at least 25% of Eau Gallie's points. Joshua Brown was another key contributor, scoring 7 points.
Eau Gallie's win bumped their record up to 1-2. As for West Shore, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-3.
Eau Gallie will head out on the road to face off against Port St. Lucie at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Port St. Lucie presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Eau Gallie in Florida (Port St. Lucie is ranked 151st, while Eau Gallie is ranked 442nd). As for West Shore, they will be playing at home against Edgewood at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Edgewood focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 22 on Tuesday.
